Math Empowered In-Person Programs

Statewide Cohort Programme

For Grades K–6 Classroom Teachers, Special Educators, and Interventionists

Transform your mathematics classroom into a place where every student is thinking, talking, and making sense of mathematics.

The Math Empowered Statewide Cohort is a collaborative professional learning experience designed for educators who want to move beyond traditional instruction and cultivate classrooms where students actively engage in mathematical reasoning, discourse, and problem solving.

Through this cohort, teachers learn how to implement the Math Empowered Core Four Instructional Routines—Math Talks, Partner Randomizer Sorts, DARE Application Problems, and Thinking Pathway Games—to build conceptual understanding, strengthen mathematical language, and support every learner in accessing grade-level mathematics.

Participants join a statewide network of educators committed to creating classrooms where students do the thinking, teachers facilitate powerful conversations, and mathematics becomes a collaborative learning experience, rather than a set of procedures to memorize.

Join a Community of Educators Transforming Mathematics Classrooms

Across New Hampshire and beyond, educators in the Math Empowered community are working together to create classrooms where:

  • Students talk about mathematics
  • Strategies are shared and debated
  • Mistakes ignite learning
  • Every student sees themselves as a mathematician.

Whether you are just beginning your journey toward student-centered mathematics instruction or looking to deepen an existing practice, the Math Empowered Cohort provides the structure, community, and resources to support meaningful change.

District Professional Development

Supporting Teachers, Coaches, and School Leaders

Math Empowered partners with school districts to build mathematics classrooms where all students can access and succeed with grade-level mathematics.

Our work focuses on strengthening Tier 1 instruction, helping educators implement research-based practices that deepen student thinking, improve classroom discourse, and ensure coherent mathematical learning across grade levels.

Professional learning is designed to be ongoing, practical, and classroom-centered, combining workshops, coaching cycles, and collaborative planning.

District partnerships typically include a blend of professional development days and in-class coaching, allowing teachers to learn new strategies and then immediately apply them with support.

Supporting Classroom Educators

  • Unpacking and implementing new or updated mathematics curricula
  • Identifying and eliminating instructional practices that unintentionally create barriers for students
  • Implementing strategies that provide daily access to grade-level standards for all learners
  • Previewing, modeling, and debriefing the Math Empowered Instructional Approach
  • Observing, coaching, and reflecting on mathematics instruction
  • Planning and co-facilitating PLCs and district professional development days

Ongoing Coaching and Continuous Improvement

Math Empowered professional learning is built on a continuous improvement model including workshops, classroom modeling, observation, coaching conversations, and reflection cycles that support lasting changes in classroom practice.
