Leadership Cohort
Systems that outlast enthusiasm.
School and district leaders join the same year teachers join, with a year of work aimed at the structures that keep the shift alive: schedules, look-fors, pacing at the building level, and a day of walkthroughs together in your own school. Teachers can build thinking classrooms; leaders decide whether they last.
26 core hours, plus up to 36 more across six in-school days.
Who this is for
Principals and assistant principals
The people who set the conditions a math classroom runs inside.
Curriculum directors
Pacing, materials, and coherence across a whole district.
District leaders responsible for mathematics
Sustaining the work through turnover, budgets, and board conversations.
What’s included
Systems that outlast enthusiasm.
- 0112 hours
Two full conference days
Concord Audubon Center, one in the fall (October, dates to be announced) and one in the spring (April, dates to be announced).
- 02up to 36 hours
An open invitation to all six in-school days
Three in November and three in February. Attend one, attend all six, or anything in between.
- 038 hours
Eight monthly virtual sessions
Mondays 2:00 to 3:00 PM ET, late October through May. Coaches and leaders meet together, then split into role-alike breakouts when the work differs. A coach who has heard their principal ask a question out loud, and a principal who has heard what coaching actually asks of a person, walk back into the building more aligned than any separate track would produce.
- 043 hours
Four 45-minute virtual check-ins
Scheduled when you need them, around the decisions actually in front of you.
- 05
One full on-site day at your school
Included in your cohort price. We walk four to six classrooms with you and then debrief together. The value is not the walkthrough. It is comparing what each of us noticed, which is how a leader's eye gets trained.
- 06
Kits across every grade band, the library, and the full Digital Suite
Instructional Approach Kits across every grade band, kindergarten through Pre-Calculus, not a single grade. You support teachers across a building, so you receive what all of them receive.
What you'll work on
Building pacing guides at the building level rather than the classroom level. Master schedule and intervention blocks that make the work possible. Shared look-fors that name what growth looks like, paired with feedback language that lifts practice. These are not a fidelity checklist and not an evaluation instrument. They are a common vocabulary so that everyone walking into a math classroom is noticing the same things. Sustaining the work through staff turnover. Talking about the shift with families and a school board.
Built around New Hampshire
This cohort is built around in-person learning in New Hampshire. Conferences, in-school days, and your on-site day all happen here. Educators from neighboring states are welcome and several travel in, with travel arranged on your end. An on-site day outside New Hampshire may carry an additional travel charge, quoted before anything is scheduled.
Your on-site day
One full day at your school, included in your cohort price, scheduled between November and May. Travel within New Hampshire is included. Availability is limited each year and days are scheduled first come. When a district enrolls both a coach and a leader, you can combine into one day, walkthroughs in the morning and coaching observation in the afternoon, or take two separate days.
What we notice stays between us
Walkthrough notes belong to you. Nothing we observe goes to human resources, into a personnel file, or into an evaluation. No teacher is named in anything Math Empowered produces. This day exists to train your eye, not to assess anyone's teaching.
Built on the Core Four™
The Core Four, daily
Math Talks, Partner Sorts, DARE-ing Application Problems, and Thinking Pathway Tasks and Proof Games, used as everyday routines rather than special occasions.
Teacher-Start to Student-Start
Shift the thinking to students: they notice, try, defend, and revise, while you facilitate the conversation that follows.
Embedded differentiation
Open grade-level access with representations and entry points already built into the task, so more students can join the same mathematics.
Intervention in the moment
Read student thinking as it happens and respond during the lesson, instead of waiting for the next unit or the next assessment.

174 → 188 → 201
One Grade 2 class's NWEA MAP Growth math averages: fall, winter, spring.
This class began the year at 174, level with the national fall average for Grade 2. NWEA's 2025 norms put typical fall-to-spring growth for a Grade 2 class at 14 points. This class gained 27, and finished above the national spring average for the end of Grade 3. One classroom is not a controlled study and we present it as one classroom. What the numbers show is what the teacher described: students who could talk about their thinking and carry it from one day to the next.
“Math Empowered has changed the way I teach math and I will never return to reading out of the book.”
